UNED Torrevieja has scheduled a ceremony on Tuesday 20 October to recognise the first two cohorts of its Early Childhood Education degree taught in the city. The event is announced for 19:00 at the Centro Cultural Virgen del Carmen, Calle Mar, 28.
Diplomas will recognise the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 cohorts, who completed their studies and teaching placements with lecturers in Torrevieja. Recognition is also planned for those who passed university entry tests for applicants over 25 and 45.
Francisco Escudero Galante, writer and director of UNED Elche, will deliver the inaugural lecture on Miguel Hernández, poetry and childhood. The programme includes performances by soprano Susanna Vardanyan, violinist Stanislav Tkach and pianist Sergio Martínez Blasco.
Planned gifts include a silver pin, a diploma and a salt boat made by Vicente Martínez, director of the municipal salt craft school. Andrea Husken will speak for the Early Childhood Education students and Antonia Cruz for the access-course students.
The source dates the establishment of the local teaching centre to 2022 and says enrolments have exceeded 300 this academic year. The possible future addition of Communication studies is presented as an ambition dependent on classroom availability, not as an already authorised degree.
