Cabo Cervera’s sports court is available to residents again following the repair and refurbishment works announced by Torrevieja council. The reopening restores a neighbourhood space for outdoor sport after work to address deterioration at the facility.
The works form part of a contract covering two other sites: the court in Parque Perfecta Rodríguez in La Mata, and the Los Balcones sports facilities around Reina de la Sal. The €640,211 covers all three projects, not Cabo Cervera alone.
Renewed playing areas and fencing
According to the council, the refurbishment included renewed surfaces, non-slip sports paint and regulation court markings. Fencing and enclosures in poor condition were also replaced.
The works also involved removing damaged elements and improving entrances for accessibility. Construcciones Hermanos Espín S. L. carried out the project.
The council describes these improvements collectively and provides no breakdown of spending or of each task carried out specifically at Cabo Cervera.
New LED floodlights
Lighting is another element that has been updated. Sports LED floodlights improve illumination and, according to the council, reduce energy consumption.
The renewal helps make sport possible as natural light fades, although the council statement does not specify opening hours or booking conditions. It therefore does not, in itself, confirm longer opening hours.
A neighbourhood facility back in use
Sports councillor Diana Box placed the project within the council’s aim of bringing physical activity closer to neighbourhoods and improving existing facilities.
For Cabo Cervera, the development is the return of an existing facility: a local sports space reopening after refurbishment.
