Recognition for promoting sport

Torrevieja has received the Higher Sports Council Award as part of Spain’s National Sports Awards for 2025. On 16 October the council announced the decision, made public on 15 October, recognising the local authority’s contribution to promoting sport.

The nomination figures

The council’s submission records 150 sporting events, 64 team and national-squad training camps, and 40,892 participants during 2025. It also highlights work on facilities, grassroots sport and sport for people with disabilities. These are figures from the council’s nomination, not an independent count by this publication.

The presentation is a separate event

The nomination was submitted by the Spanish Paralympic Committee. The recognition concerns activity in 2025, although the decision became known during the week of 12–18 October 2026. The available information announces a future formal presentation; it does not establish that the ceremony has already taken place or justify assigning a date other than one published by the organisers.
