Club Gimnasia Rítmica Torrevieja has qualified its alevín and infantil groups for the Spanish Group Championships after competing in the regional qualifying round over the past weekend.
Both teams entered in that event secured their places at the national competition, which will take place in Cartagena next month, in November.
Regional runners-up in the infantil category
The infantil group added the regional runners-up position to its national qualification, while the alevín team also secured its place at the forthcoming Spanish championships.
The club has welcomed the results achieved by both groups and highlighted the work of the gymnasts and their coaching team throughout the season.
The weekend’s qualification is a new development following the preparatory tournaments the club attended in Aspe and Elche on 17 and 18 October.
Earlier preparation in Aspe and Elche
Those events involved the alevín, infantil and cadete groups at Base level, alongside individual Copa Base gymnasts, with different results in each venue and discipline.
At the tournament organised by Club Kayma in Aspe, the infantil group finished first, the cadete group came second and the alevín team took fourth place.
In the individual events on the same day, Mía finished third in the alevín category and Sienna took fourth in the infantil competition.
The following day, at the event organised by Club Algar in Elche, Mía and Sienna both secured first place in their respective individual categories.
The groups ended that second day with the alevín team fourth, the infantil group fifth and the cadete group third, following its second place on Saturday.
From preparatory events to national qualification
The Aspe and Elche results came from preparatory tournaments rather than representing regional titles or qualification for the Spanish championships.
The qualification announced now comes from the subsequent regional round and applies to the two groups entered, alevín and infantil, which will represent the club in Cartagena.
