Mare Nostrum Torrevieja players celebrate their victory in Villafranca

Mare Nostrum Torrevieja won 24–26 away at Villafranca de los Caballeros on Saturday 17 October 2026. The result came in the fifth round of Primera Nacional and maintained their perfect record on the road. They have now won all three away matches played in the opening stages of the competition, making their travelling form the strongest feature of their season so far.

The visit to the town in Toledo province ended with a two-goal margin over Fibritel Balonmano Villafranca. For the Torrevieja side, the result adds another two points to their total. It also extends a sequence that began before this latest trip: three different away fixtures have now produced three victories, with no dropped points on those visits.

Three trips, three victories

Before the Villafranca match, Mare Nostrum had already won in Murcia and Algemesí. Together, those three victories account for their six points after five rounds. The team stand seventh following the latest result. That position describes their place at this stage of the campaign; it is not a final assessment of where they will finish in the league.

Their home record presents a different challenge, as they are still looking for their first victory in Torrevieja. The next fixture therefore offers a chance to turn their success on the road into a winning result in front of their own supporters. The unbeaten description applies specifically to their away games, rather than to their season as a whole.

Elda next at Cecilio Gallego

The next announced opponents are Balonmano Elda Centro Excursionista Eldense. That home match is scheduled for Saturday 24 October at 6.30pm at the Cecilio Gallego sports hall in Torrevieja. It follows the successful journey to Toledo and offers Mare Nostrum an opportunity to collect their first home points of the campaign, rather than extend their sequence of away victories.

For supporters planning to follow the team, the key details are the Elda opposition, the Cecilio Gallego venue and the early-evening start. Until that fixture, the confirmed balance from the Villafranca result is three away wins and six points from five rounds. The next test is whether the effectiveness shown on their travels can also deliver a first home victory.
