Alimentos Solidarios Torrevieja has begun the process of renewing its board after the team chaired by José Antonio Vidal Martínez announced its irrevocable resignation following eight years in charge of the association.

The decision was communicated at an assembly held on Friday 30 October in the meeting room at Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja.

The organisation will continue providing care and assistance to families in the city who are facing hardship while it undertakes this renewal of its governing bodies.

When and where to submit nominations

The timetable sets 15 November 2026 as the deadline for submitting nominations for the association’s new leadership team.

Nominations can be formally submitted at its offices at 227 Calle San Pascual on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 17:00 and 19:00.

Members of the association who meet the requirements laid down in its statutes may stand, with those rules determining the conditions for participation in the process.

A ballot if several nominations are received

An election is planned for 30 November if more than one nomination is submitted, through a free and secret ballot during a General Assembly.

Members who meet the statutory conditions will be entitled to vote, including volunteers recognised as members; taking part in the election is therefore linked to that membership status.

The outgoing leadership team

Alongside Vidal Martínez, the outgoing board has included Martina Mazón Martínez as vice-chair, Izaskun Gómez Martínez as secretary and Carlos García Martínez as treasurer.

The other board members have been Antonio Sánchez Galián, Francisco Javier Penalva García, Vicenta Gómez Gómez and Yahayra Vanesa Mundo Álvarez.

In his farewell, the outgoing chairman thanked the volunteers for their dedication, Torrevieja Town Council for its cooperation and the suppliers who have supported the organisation’s work.

He also acknowledged donations from businesses and individuals that have helped sustain the association during this period, characterised by cooperation between volunteers, institutions and members of the public.
