A warning with a defined timeframe
On 17 October, Torrevieja council communicated an orange warning for Alicante’s southern coast during the early hours of Sunday 18 October. The forecast cited in the municipal statement included thunderstorms and rainfall potentially reaching 50 litres per square metre in an hour. That figure was a forecast threshold, not a measured rainfall total.
Coordination and services
The Municipal Operational Coordination Centre monitored the episode from the warning’s announcement. The council announced extra standby services and crews to respond to possible incidents in coordination with the local police, Guardia Civil and fire service. Urban public transport was to remain operational, according to the same information.
The announced period has ended
The published window ran from 00:00 to 10:00 on 18 October and had ended when this edition was prepared. This report establishes neither an extension nor confirmed damage. For current warnings, consult updates from AEMET, the Generalitat’s emergency services and the town council.
