Torrevieja urban bus routes 1 and 2 will connect the southern residential areas with the town centre without passengers changing vehicles at the University Hospital from Monday 2 November.

Both services will retain their hospital stop and continue to number 7, Avenida Doctor Gregorio Marañón, which will become the final stop on the journey towards the centre.

The transport department has also announced changes to route 8, linking the centre with La Mata along the coast, and the restoration of part of route 2’s previous itinerary.

Route 1: Los Altos, Punta Prima and Rocío del Mar

The extension of route 1 will allow passengers using the Hospital, Los Altos, Punta Prima and Rocío del Mar stops to complete their journey to Gregorio Marañón on the same bus.

The first departure from Gregorio Marañón will be at 06:45, while the first service from Rocío del Mar, at the Calle Mar Rizada stop, will leave at 07:00.

The final departure from both ends of the route is scheduled for 22:10.

Route 2: Los Balcones and Lago Jardín

Route 2 will provide a direct connection to the centre from Los Balcones and Lago Jardín, while also returning to Avenidas de la Asunción and Torrevieja.

Services will begin at 06:45 from the Avenida de Denia stop in Los Balcones and at 07:00 from Gregorio Marañón; the last departures from both ends will be at 22:30.

A permanent new itinerary for route 8

Redevelopment works at Paseo de Los Locos are prompting the route 8 changes, but the new itinerary will remain in place after the works finish.

Towards La Mata, buses will serve Avenida de la Purísima, Goleta, Mar Báltico and Jacinto Benavente before continuing along Alfredo Nobel towards Cabo Cervera and the terminus at Mayor, 59.

Towards central Torrevieja, the route will include Echegaray, Finlandia, Habaneras, Antonio Machado beside the bus station and Diego Ramírez, finishing at Gregorio Marañón.

The council recommends checking each direction’s stops and timetable before travelling, particularly during the first few days after the changes take effect.
