ASOKA Orihuela poster announcing the new date of 8 November and three dog-walking sessions

ASOKA Orihuela has postponed its charity dog-walking day until Sunday 8 November, replacing the date originally announced as 1 November while keeping all three of the planned participation times.

The event will take place at Orihuela’s Animal Protection Centre, located on Camino Lo Arques, without a street number, in the village of San Bartolomé.

Taking part requires a donation of five euros and advance registration by email to [email protected], the contact address provided by the animal welfare association in its announcement.

Spanish and English talks, plus a walk-only session

The first session will start at 10:00 with a short talk in Spanish about ASOKA’s work, followed by a walk with one of the dogs being cared for at the centre.

The same activity will be offered in English at 10:45, an option the association includes to make it easier for people who do not speak Spanish to take part.

The third session will begin at 11:30 and will be devoted solely to walking the dogs, without the talk included in the two earlier sessions that morning.

The shelter’s announcement asks people to get in touch by email to confirm that spaces remain available, as well as checking the times before coming to the event.

Meeting the animals and learning about the shelter

The initiative aims to bring the reality of abandoned animals closer to the public and explain the work that the association carries out at its animal protection centre.

For the dogs, a walk offers a break from their usual routine, an opportunity to enjoy the surroundings and contact with other people through an activity shared with participants.

The meetings also allow prospective adopters to get to know the animals directly and become familiar with how the shelter in San Bartolomé operates and cares for them.

ASOKA says previous events have helped it bring in volunteers, secure adoptions, find foster homes and receive donations in support of the work carried out by the association.
