The governing board of Torrevieja’s Joaquín Chapaprieta Municipal Institute of Culture has approved awarding ESATUR XXI S.L.U. the integrated management of the Municipal Theatre, International Music Auditorium and Floating Museums.
The contract is worth €2,776,492 including VAT for an initial year of service. It allows up to three further annual extensions, making four years the maximum possible duration rather than a term already committed to.
The company scored 98.75 points out of 100 in an open tender handled through an urgent procedure. Formal signing of the contract will precede the new phase of service delivery.
Programming and running the theatre
The brief brings cultural activity together with the technical, administrative and conservation work required at the venues, as well as assistance for the people using them.
At the Municipal Theatre, it provides for a regular programme encompassing theatre, dance, opera and music, alongside film activities and congresses.
The contractor will take responsibility for administration and technical supervision of the spaces, together with cleaning, maintenance and security. Artistic organisation and the practical tasks needed to operate the building are therefore covered by the same service.
Music and professional gatherings
Activity at the International Auditorium will focus on symphonic, musical and chamber programming, alongside other events compatible with the venue and its facilities.
Management will also pay attention to congresses, trade fairs, conventions and professional meetings, within the meetings and events tourism sector commonly known as MICE.
Assessment of the company’s bid highlighted its cultural programming plans, operational organisation and arrangements for marketing and monitoring the service across the venues.
Visitor services at the Floating Museums
The contract covers regular opening and closing at the Floating Museums, access control, ticket offices and cultural information and guidance for visitors.
Specialist staff will carry out those duties, including guides with higher education in history and tourism and accredited language skills, serving both domestic and international visitors.
The award establishes a shared management framework for the three facilities. Programming, conservation and public assistance are brought together within a single municipal cultural management service.
