Families in Benidorm holding council school supply vouchers have until 20 November to redeem them at shops taking part in the scheme. This year’s support reaches 1,014 children aged between three and five.

The town council has allocated a total of €63,882 to the programme for the 2026–2027 academic year, providing €63 per child to help families with the cost of returning to school.

Education councillor Maite Moreno has urged households that have not yet collected or used their vouchers to do so before that date, to avoid losing them when they expire.

Who the support is for

The programme is for children registered as residents in Benidorm who attend the second cycle of early years education at the town’s thirteen state schools and one publicly subsidised school.

The money can be used to buy the supplies requested by each school for its early years classrooms, in line with the educational activities planned by the centre.

Voucher distribution began in July, and families have been able to collect them as their applications were approved, either at the town hall or at the municipal administrative offices closest to each school.

Five batches of beneficiaries

The scheme was approved in May, alongside an initial automatic award to 637 children who had received the support the previous year and still met the requirements. That first batch amounted to €40,131.

Four further groups were subsequently approved: 32 beneficiaries receiving €2,016 between them; 161 receiving €10,143; 30 receiving €1,890; and 154 receiving €9,702.

Together, the five batches bring the total to the 1,014 children reported by the education department on Tuesday, 3 November.

The deadline on the 20th is for redeeming vouchers at participating businesses in Benidorm. Families whose support has already been approved should keep that date in mind when planning their purchases of school supplies.
