National Police have arrested a woman and two men aged between 43 and 50 in Orihuela on suspicion of drug trafficking and handling stolen goods after dismantling two drug-selling points.

According to the police investigation, valuable stolen items were also accepted at the two homes in exchange for drugs, mainly hashish and cannabis.

Searches at two homes

Orihuela’s Judicial Police Brigade began its inquiries after receiving information about the possible distribution of drugs from the two properties.

Officers observed a large number of visitors and established that some left carrying substances they were believed to have bought inside the homes, according to the police account.

During their inquiries, investigators identified the three residents and requested judicial authorisation to enter and search the properties under investigation.

The searches led to the seizure of individual packages containing a total of 44 grams of hashish and 45 grams of cannabis, alongside equipment for handling, measuring out and distributing drugs.

Phones, watches and tools seized

The inventory of seized goods includes nine mobile phones, 14 watches and 12 drills, as well as other machinery and tools.

Those items include sanders, angle grinders, blowers and cement-mixing equipment, together with a bicycle and three scooters.

Analysis of the recovered goods has enabled officers to link some of the items to six burglaries committed in Orihuela.

The victims of those burglaries were notified and had their belongings returned, while police inquiries into the remaining goods continue to establish their origins and investigate other possible offences.

Brought before the court

The three people arrested were brought before Orihuela’s duty investigating court once the police procedures had been completed.

The police investigation covers both suspected drug trafficking from the two homes and the alleged acceptance of stolen property in exchange for substances, while officers continue checking the origins of the items not yet linked to a specific offence.
