Benidorm will celebrate its Festes Majors Patronals from Friday 6 to Wednesday 11 November, with six days of processions, concerts, children’s activities and pyrotechnics in honour of the Virgen del Sufragio and St James the Apostle.

The programme includes performances by Funambulista, Leticia Sabater and Danny Romero, with the mascletà firecracker displays taking place on Avenida de Foietes.

Lights on Friday and the Hallazgo on Saturday

On Friday 6, the festive lighting will be switched on at 6pm in Martínez Alejos, followed by the opening of the porrat fair in Emilio Ortuño.

The fairground beside the bullring opens at 7pm, with reduced prices for the children’s discount day; the Entrada de Penyes parade is scheduled for 9.30pm.

The official opening comes at noon on Saturday 7, with bells and pyrotechnics, followed by the bands’ procession at 12.05pm.

The Hallazgo re-enactment of the discovery of the Virgen del Sufragio takes place on Poniente beach at 5pm; at 6.30pm a procession leaves Parque de Elche for the flower offering and opening address.

Concerts and celebrations for the patron saints

Sunday 8 brings a mascletà at 2pm in Foietes and the Virgin’s procession at 7.30pm; Funambulista performs at 11.30pm in Plaza de Sus Majestades los Reyes de España.

On Monday 9, dedicated to St James, another mascletà takes place at 2pm and the procession begins at 7.30pm.

Leticia Sabater performs at 10.30pm on Monday; Danny Romero follows at 1am, early on Tuesday, in Plaza de Sus Majestades los Reyes de España.

On Tuesday 10, the humour parade follows Venus, Ruzafa and Martínez Alejos from 7pm; the night-time mascletà is at 11pm in Foietes.

Floats and changes for drivers

Wednesday 11’s float parade leaves Parque de Elche at 6pm, finishing on Avenida de Alcoy, with fireworks after the parade ends.

Setting up the porrat fair will close Emilio Ortuño between Ruzafa and Primavera from 2 to 17 November.

Glass containers will not be allowed into concerts and events; the organising commission may change or suspend the programme if circumstances require it.
