Ángel Granda and Neus Pericàs won the overall men’s and women’s titles at Spain’s 2026 Wingfoil Racing Cup, held from 16 to 18 October in the waters of Real Club Náutico Torrevieja. The event attracted 31 registered competitors from different Spanish regions, with the weather shaping the weekend’s racing.

Rain and showers prevented competition on Friday and Saturday. The race committee concentrated the programme on Sunday, when the three races that validated the championship were completed. Winds were around nine knots, initially from 050 degrees, north-east, before shifting towards 060 degrees.

Two wins for Granda and the women’s title for Pericàs

Granda, representing Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, won the opening two races. Ninth place in the third left him with 11 points and secured the title. Leo Zabell Blanco, representing the Andalusian Sailing Federation, was second in the men’s standings with 13 points, two second-place finishes and first place in the under-19 category.

Martín Medina Rein, of Real Club El Candado, completed the overall men’s podium with 17 points and was the leading male under-17 competitor. Pericàs, of Real Club Náutico Port de Pollença, also scored 17 points: finishes of fourth, sixth and seventh placed her third overall, ahead of Medina on the tie-break.

Alongside the women’s championship, Pericàs took first place in the female under-17 category. Her clubmate Valentina Cifre García was second among the women. Miquel Pericàs, Neus’s brother and another Port de Pollença competitor, led the under-15 category and finished tenth overall.

Juan Santacruz ninth and leading Grand Master

For the host club, Juan Santacruz finished ninth overall and first in the Grand Master category, recording two sixth places. Santacruz also attended the prize-giving in his role as the club’s sailing representative.

The ceremony took place at the yacht club after the final race. Those attending included vice-president Fran Martínez; sports councillor Diana Box; Carlos Torrado, representing the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, and Eduardo Revert, representing the Valencian Community Sailing Federation.
