Torrevieja Local Police have seized approximately 1,950 kilos of goods linked to illegal street trading during 2026, according to police figures released on Saturday. The total amounts to around 5,000 items with an estimated selling value exceeding €100,000.

This week, 1,550 kilos of products seized since 7 April were destroyed, comprising approximately 120 packages.

The goods were collected and compacted at Local Police headquarters before being transported to a waste treatment and management facility in Dolores for destruction.

That quantity comes in addition to approximately 400 kilos seized during the first months of the year, which were destroyed in April together with goods from operations carried out in 2025.

Reports and special enforcement operations

The figures include 35 seizure reports and 11 police case reports concerning suspected industrial property offences; these proceedings do not amount to convictions.

Twelve special operations took place between June and September: nine organised by Local Police, with between twenty and twenty-five officers per operation, and three conducted with the Guardia Civil, involving approximately thirty-five personnel.

Enforcement focused particularly on July and August along the Juan Aparicio promenade, the Playa del Cura promenade, Avenida de los Marineros and the seafront promenade in La Mata.

Checks also took place at the city's northern and southern approaches to detect goods being transported for illegal sale.

Five of the eleven police case reports relate to access checks and vehicle interceptions, while six concern interventions on the seafront promenades.

Estimated value of the seized goods

The financial estimate uses an average price of twenty euros per item. One operation involved the seizure of around four hundred T-shirts, with an estimated selling value of €8,000.

Local Police also recorded between twenty-five and thirty interventions in which sellers abandoned their goods after noticing the officers' presence.

The council has announced that it will maintain surveillance against unauthorised trading and suspected counterfeit goods, particularly along the seafront promenades, with the stated aim of protecting local businesses.
