Torrevieja’s Virgen del Carmen cultural centre will host the first regional conference on loss and bereavement on 5 and 6 November 2026, with talks, discussion panels and personal testimonies about support and emotional care.
The event is organised by the Public Health Department, led by Rosa Cañón, with participation from Torrevieja’s health department and Crisálida and collaboration from AGAMED.
Professionals from different disciplines will come together to share experiences and practical tools for supporting people and their families through loss.
Thursday: health professionals and palliative care
The opening is scheduled for Thursday 5 November at 08:30, with the announced participation of mayor Eduardo Dolón and Rosa Cañón alongside health and professional representatives.
At 09:00, Mireia Roqué will give the opening talk, ‘Death and bereavement in our society: learning to let go’, before a panel on bereavement among health professionals.
That session will address staff experiences, active and empathetic listening, and support during donation processes.
Valentín Rodil will deliver ‘The knots of grief’ at 12:30, followed at 14:00 by testimonies from Amparo Cos Boj and Inmaculada Gemma Ortigosa Huerta.
The afternoon begins at 16:30 with adult and paediatric palliative care, family support, intercultural approaches and care at home when a cure is no longer possible.
Friday: support and perinatal bereavement
Friday 6 November opens at 08:45 with ‘The art of accompanying’, moderated by Conchi Vaquero Mercader, featuring contributions on spirituality, the body, attachment and the end of life.
Arnaldo Pangrazzi will discuss emotions in bereavement at 11:10, while Lorena Hernández Pallarés will address the therapeutic use of stories at 13:10.
At 16:30, a panel will focus on perinatal and gestational bereavement and support following loss during pregnancy and around birth.
Free consultation and registration
On both days, the Caravana de Duelo mobile listening unit will offer a free public consultation service at the cultural centre entrance, linked to Valentín Rodil’s support work.
There will also be exhibitions of ‘Modelando el duelo’, by Conchi Vaquero Mercader, and ‘La primera, única y eterna fotografía’, by Rocío Loino.
On Friday from 18:00 to 19:00, a gong bath entitled ‘El susurro del silencio’ will be open to the public.
Registration is via the poster’s QR codes, with separate routes for SVS staff and other participants; further information is available at [email protected].
The organisers have applied for accreditation from the Continuing Education Commission for Health Professions.
