Aragonese organist, pianist and composer Carlos Paterson will give a concert at Torrevieja’s Sagrado Corazón parish church on Saturday 24 October as part of the fifth Ciudad de Torrevieja International Organ Festival.
The parish’s own website announces that the performance will begin at 19:30, the starting time communicated by the venue for this forthcoming live musical event.
Admission will be free, subject to capacity, for a concert organised by the Asociación Cultural Amigos del Órgano Tubular.
A programme from the Renaissance to the Baroque
The advertised repertoire explores Iberian Renaissance and Baroque music while also including European Baroque composers, with seven names listed in the concert’s presentation.
Among them are Antonio de Cabezón, who lived from 1510 to 1566, and Joseph Ximénez, born around 1600 and who died in 1672.
The selection also features Pablo Bruna, who lived from 1611 to 1679, and Joan B. Cabanilles, from 1644 to 1712, within that exploration of Iberian repertoire.
The list of composers is completed by Johann Pachelbel, who lived from 1653 to 1706, Dietrich Buxtehude, from 1637 to 1707, and Johann Sebastian Bach, from 1685 to 1750.
The performer and the organisers
Paterson works as an organist, pianist and composer and holds the chair in Organ at Valencia’s Joaquín Rodrigo Higher Conservatoire of Music.
His appearance continues the programme of the festival’s fifth edition, bringing performers together around organ music at Sagrado Corazón.
The festival is sponsored by AGAMED, Aguas del Arco Mediterráneo, S. A., Caja Rural Central and the Municipal Institute of Culture.
The organisations support an initiative devoted to promoting music and organ heritage, with the cultural association responsible for organising the festival.
For residents and visitors, Saturday’s concert combines free admission, limited by the church’s capacity, with a programme bringing together composers from the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
