Sueña Torrevieja has submitted a motion calling for a system of monitoring, assessment and continuous improvement for the new urban bus service, with regular reports and an accessible channel for users’ complaints and suggestions.

The initiative is directed to the next council plenary session on Monday and sets out seven proposed resolutions to review how the service operates and whether municipal contract obligations are being met.

The party places its proposal in the context of the phased introduction of the new network, which began on 27 July and is due to be completed during 2027.

Reports on timetables, incidents and coverage

The measures include regular reports on punctuality, frequencies, compliance with timetables, passenger numbers, incidents and geographical coverage.

Sueña Torrevieja also wants an assessment of compliance with the conditions laid down in the contract, and the monitoring results to be published on the council website.

The group’s spokesperson, Pablo Samper, argues that introducing new buses must be accompanied by checks on the service and arrangements for listening to the people who use it.

Samper says changes to routes, journeys, timetables and frequencies are prompting complaints; that assessment comes from the party promoting the motion.

Hospital, schools, La Mata and residential areas

The proposal seeks a specific assessment of connections to Torrevieja University Hospital, health centres, schools, La Mata and the municipality’s different neighbourhoods and residential developments.

The municipal group argues that monitoring should help identify shortcomings and introduce solutions while the network is being implemented, before problems become entrenched.

The requested participation mechanism would collect complaints, suggestions and proposals for analysis when possible changes to the service are considered.

Samper highlights older people, young people, families without a private vehicle and residents of developments far from the centre as users for whom public transport is particularly important.

The submitted initiative is a request for oversight and improvements: assessments, publication of results and the participation channel form part of the resolutions Sueña Torrevieja is proposing to the council plenary.
