National Police have arrested two men aged 29 and 41 in Benidorm over their alleged involvement in a series of incidents at homes on Calle Rumanía and at a campsite in the town.
Items reported stolen include jewellery valued at around €10,000, two mobile phones, an electronic tablet and cash, according to the police account of the investigation.
The inquiry covers four incidents between 26 September and 11 October, although the person reporting one of them did not notice that anything was missing from the property.
Arrests made on two separate dates
The 29-year-old man was arrested on 15 October, according to details provided by police sources about the investigation carried out in Benidorm.
The second suspect, aged 41, was located and arrested on 21 October after officers initially had difficulties finding him.
The arrests form part of the investigation into these incidents and do not amount to a conviction; both men remain entitled to the presumption of innocence.
Three incidents on Calle Rumanía
The first incident under investigation dates to 26 September at a home on the street, where a substantial quantity of jewellery was allegedly taken.
The victim estimated its value at around €10,000, a figure relating to those pieces rather than to the combined value of everything reported stolen.
On 9 October, a mobile phone and a tablet were reported stolen from another apartment on the same street, which the intruders allegedly entered while its occupant was asleep.
The following day, 10 October, another home on Calle Rumanía was allegedly entered, but the person who made the report did not notice that anything was missing.
Shoulder bag reported stolen at a campsite
The fourth incident under investigation took place on 11 October at a campsite in Benidorm, according to the police account.
In that case, a shoulder bag containing a wallet, another mobile phone and €80 in cash was reported stolen.
