Purchases of at least €10 at participating Orihuela shops give customers the chance to enter draws for gift cards and experiences during the Local Commerce Day campaign, taking place this Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October.

The Association of Traders of the Municipality of Orihuela, ACMO, is organising the two days with support from the council’s commerce department to encourage residents and visitors to shop at local businesses.

How to enter with a shopping receipt

To enter the draw, customers must hand in their receipt at the shop where they made the purchase, adding their first name, surname and telephone number.

The purchase must total €10 or more and must have been made at one of the businesses taking part in the initiative.

Entries remain open until Saturday 24 October, the final day of a campaign combining incentives for shoppers with activities in the streets.

The announcement includes more than €1,000 in prizes and €20 gift cards, as well as experiences, to attract people shopping at the participating businesses.

Shop windows and entertainment alongside shopping

Participating businesses will decorate their premises with balloons and special window displays, making the celebration visible within the shopping spaces themselves as well as in the streets.

The programme includes street entertainment with stilt walkers and balloons, an activity particularly aimed at families that will accompany the shops’ own commercial activity.

The organisers want weekend shopping to take place in a festive atmosphere and encourage residents and visitors to explore the city’s local shops.

A campaign supporting neighbourhood businesses

ACMO and the commerce department present the initiative as a way of highlighting the role of small businesses in Orihuela’s economy and everyday life.

Their approach emphasises personal service, the activity shops sustain in the streets and their contribution to employment and neighbourhood life.

Over the two days, the campaign combines that message of support for local commerce with a practical way to take part: keeping the purchase receipt and handing it in with contact details at the participating business.
