Rojales side CD Thader claimed a second consecutive victory by beating UD Rayo Ibense 1–0 at the Moi Gómez stadium, thanks to an 83rd-minute goal from Borja.
The match was played on Wednesday after being postponed from Sunday, when the Valencian football federation called off local football because of the forecast of a red weather warning.
Thader had arrived on the back of a 2–1 win in Gandia and secured another victory, this time in a match in which goalkeeper Sergio played a decisive role in keeping a clean sheet.
Sergio keeps Thader in contention early on
Rayo Ibense dominated the opening half-hour and forced the home goalkeeper into several interventions, but the visitors were unable to turn their early control into a lead on the scoreboard.
Sergio pushed away a shot in the third minute and, in the 19th, punched an inswinging corner over the crossbar to prevent it threatening the Rojales side’s goal.
He denied the visitors again in the 27th minute, turning the ball onto a post and preserving the goalless scoreline during the period when Rayo were applying their greatest pressure.
Thader improved towards the end of the first half and created two chances for Serhiy: one was blocked by the goalkeeper in a one-on-one, while his other effort missed the target.
Robin and Borja make the difference from the bench
Rayo tested Sergio again in the 64th minute and also shot wide from close range midway through the second half, with the match still goalless as both sides searched for a breakthrough.
The decisive move arrived in the 83rd minute, when Robin beat three opponents and passed to Borja, who finished into an open goal to put Thader in front.
Both players had come on as substitutes and combined for the move that ultimately settled a match in which the visitors had created several chances before the only goal.
The home side had to play stoppage time a man down after Torres was sent off for a second yellow card, but Rayo Ibense could not exploit their numerical advantage to equalise.
The final whistle left the score at 1–0 and brought another celebration for Thader’s players and supporters following the victory they had already secured away in Gandia.
