Los Montesinos town council has opened its draft Municipal Social Responsibility Plan to public participation, allowing residents to read the document and submit comments before the final version of the plan is approved.

The consultation follows the participatory process launched in June with funding from Alicante Provincial Council, which gathered opinions, needs and proposals from residents and the municipality’s social and economic stakeholders.

Reading the document and submitting suggestions

Online participation involves two steps: first, reading the full draft that the council has made available to the public; then, submitting observations through the form provided by the town council for this stage of consultation.

The form is intended for suggestions and proposals about the text currently being prepared, during a consultation phase that comes before work on the final version of the municipal plan is completed.

The invitation is not limited to individual residents: the council is also encouraging associations, businesses and local groups to participate, with the aim of taking account of priorities across different parts of the Los Montesinos community.

The contributions received will be used to assess possible improvements and additions to the document, building on the draft produced after the initial listening phase involving residents and the municipality’s social and economic stakeholders.

Social, environmental and economic criteria

The plan aims to move towards more open, ethical and sustainable governance by bringing social, environmental and economic criteria into public management and encouraging residents to help shape the definition of municipal policies.

The project includes measures intended to make the process inclusive, participatory and transparent, including the creation of a steering group with responsibility for coordinating the development of the process and monitoring its progress.

Through this latest consultation phase, the council is once again opening the document to contributions from the local population before deciding on the final wording and proceeding to approve the municipal plan.
