Servigroup Benidorm beat Ontinet 90–78 and Altea defeated Elche 73–64 on Saturday 24 October as basketball returned to the Marina Baixa following the break caused by the severe weather.

The round also brought victories for Terralfàs’s men and women, completing a clean sweep for the four teams that had been unable to play the previous week because of the effects of storm Adam.

Benidorm extend their strong start

In Tercera FEB, the side coached by Nico Sánchez overcame another demanding opponent, adding the win against Ontinet to their earlier successes over Jorge Juan and Alginet at the start of the season.

The Benidorm team controlled the contest from beginning to end, without needing an exceptional quarter to make up for difficulties in another part of the match, according to Radio Benidorm’s report.

Keeping much of the existing squad together and adding reinforcements in key positions were part of the project with which Sánchez had set out to take another step forward this season.

Altea turn around a difficult contest

In the men’s Primera División, Fermín Iglesias’s team had to recover from a very difficult opening against Elche, who took the first quarter 11–28 to establish a substantial early advantage.

Altea responded in the second period, winning it 24–9 and allowing the home side to reach half-time just one point behind their opponents after that much-improved spell of play.

The teams entered the final quarter level, before Altea secured a 73–64 victory in front of their home supporters to complete the turnaround against the visiting Elche side.

Two victories for Terralfàs

In the same men’s division, Manu Fuster’s Terralfàs won 52–96 away at Montemar and share second place with Altea, behind Onil in the standings following the return to competition.

The women’s team, coached by Mª Carmen Burgos, began their Primera División campaign with an 81–51 win over Jairis from Alcantarilla, despite the visitors’ response during the second quarter of the game.
