Torrevieja’s Joaquín Chapaprieta Municipal Culture Institute has announced the suspension of its activities from 29 to 31 October and automatic refunds for tickets bought through official online platforms for the affected shows.
The measure forms part of three days of official mourning following the rail accident in Urda on Wednesday 28 October, and sets out the consequences for two events in the town’s municipal cultural programme.
Saúl Jazz Band and Don Juan Tenorio
The announcement identifies the Saúl Jazz Band concert, part of the Viernes de Palacio series, and the Municipal Theatre School’s production of Don Juan Tenorio as the affected activities.
The jazz performance had been scheduled for Friday 30 October at 20:00 at the Palacio de la Música, with tickets costing a flat rate of five euros each.
The graphic accompanying the announcement marks the jazz event as postponed and Don Juan Tenorio as cancelled; the play had been scheduled for Saturday 31 October at 20:00 at the Teatro Municipal.
Refunds to the original payment method
The institute says that the cost of tickets purchased through official online platforms will be refunded automatically over the coming days.
The money will be returned to the same account or card used for the purchase, meaning that the announced procedure retains the original payment method.
The organisation expresses its condolences, respect and solidarity with the victims, their families and everyone else affected by the accident, and wishes those injured a speedy recovery.
Part of the autumn jazz programme
Saúl Jazz Band had been listed as the third performance in Viernes de Palacio, a programme of four concerts organised by the institute at the Palacio de la Música.
The band’s proposed set focused on classic standards and the warm sounds of jazz; the autumn programme also included Pau Viguer Trío, Power of Three and Aranjuez Jazz Band.
Today’s announcement sets out the consequences for these two events within the wider suspension of council-organised activities during the period of mourning.
