San Javier collected four honours at the fifth sports gala of the Union of Sports Federations of the Region of Murcia (UFDRM), held on 24 October, with awards linked to Club Deportivo Aidemar, RafaPuede, rider Marta Villaescusa and wrestler Carla Lera.

The municipal sports department released its account of the gala this Friday, describing San Javier as the municipality with the most awards: two connected with the inclusion of people with disabilities and two for the individual sportswomen.

Aidemar and RafaPuede: inclusive sport

Aidemar was recognised for ‘Sin Límites’, the project it runs with Club Chotacabras, which has reached its eighth edition, combining sporting activity with participation by people with intellectual disabilities.

In this year’s edition, 15 participants covered 60 kilometres of the Camí de Cavalls in Menorca; in 2025, the project had reached the summit of Toubkal in Morocco.

RafaPuede’s recognition came through the Inclusive Orienteering team and section of the Murcian Orienteering Federation, following four medals at the Spanish championship for regional teams: one gold, one silver and two bronzes.

Enrique Miquel González, Mario Gámez Sarabia, Adrián Martínez Izquierdo and Rafael Moreno Villar contributed to those results, alongside coach Paula Pan.

Achievements in dressage and wrestling

Marta Villaescusa Bueno received another of the honours after becoming Spain’s under-25 dressage champion in 2025, with two gold medals, and competing at the European Championships in both 2025 and 2026.

Carla Lera Celda was recognised for a record that includes Spanish senior titles in Olympic-style wrestling in 2020 and 2022, as well as the Spanish under-23 championship in 2023.

Her results also include bronze at the 2026 World University Championship, another achievement highlighted in the municipal account of the honours.

San Javier’s councillor for sport, Sergio Martínez, attended the gala and congratulated the award recipients, highlighting both success in high-level competition and local organisations’ work to make sport inclusive.
