Arte Mayor, the theatre group based at Orihuela’s Virgen de Monserrate senior centre, will perform “Lo que le pasó a Pepe después de muerto” on Friday 23 October at 19:00. The comedy will be staged at the Teatro Circo Atanasio Die. Admission is free, but audience members must collect a ticket in advance from the theatre box office.

The initiative is being organised with Orihuela Council’s Social Welfare department, led by Agustina Rodríguez. It forms part of the group’s work to bring theatre and cultural activity to older people while providing an outlet for the creativity of those taking part at the centre.

Free tickets must be collected beforehand

The announced box-office hours for collecting tickets are Tuesday to Friday, from 16:00 to 20:30. Free admission does not remove the need to obtain a ticket: advance collection is expressly required in the event announcement.

For anyone planning to attend, the collection hours and the performance time are separate pieces of information. The play begins at seven o’clock on Friday 23 October; the four-to-eight-thirty time slot refers to box-office opening hours on the specified days.

The event poster identifies the Teatro Circo Atanasio Die as the venue. It also confirms the performance date, the starting time and the availability of free tickets through the theatre box office.

Theatre and active ageing

Arte Mayor is attached to the Virgen de Monserrate senior centre. The Social Welfare initiative presents theatre as a form of participation and active ageing, with members of the group bringing their own work to a public audience.

The advertised production is a comedy by Enrique Jardiel Poncela, one of the Spanish playwrights associated with theatrical humour in the twentieth century. The programme therefore combines a comic play with the cultural participation of older residents in the municipality.

The event brings the senior centre’s theatre activity onto an Orihuela stage. Anyone wishing to attend can use the announced box-office hours to collect their ticket before the performance on 23 October. The practical arrangements are advance ticket collection, free admission and a 19:00 start at the named theatre.
