Croatia has won the senior team world title in angling from anchored boats in Torrevieja, while Slovenia has claimed the junior team championship.

The closing ceremony and awards presentation took place on Friday 30 October in the hall of the International Auditorium, following a week of competition in Torrevieja Bay.

The city hosted the 41st senior World Championship and the 25th junior World Championship, bringing the participating national teams and competitors together across the different competition days.

Individual bronze for David Rojas Bou

Croatia’s David Pinezic won the senior individual standings, followed by Slovenia’s Maks Koncilja and Spain’s David Rojas Bou, who secured third place.

In the senior team classification, Slovenia finished second and France third, completing the podium led by Croatia in the waters off Torrevieja.

The individual trophies in this category were presented with the participation of José Segura, president of the Valencian Community Fishing Federation.

The junior championship results

The junior individual title went to Croatia’s Vito Ferara, with Slovenia’s Max Kolenc and Martin Fras finishing in second and third place respectively.

In the junior team event, Montenegro finished as runners-up and Croatia took third place, behind the championship-winning Slovenian team.

The ceremony was presented by journalist Francisco Reyes and Vanesa Marcos, of Club Náutico Marina Internacional, and began with a minute’s silence for the victims and those affected by the railway accident in Urda.

Portugal takes over for 2028

The closing ceremony recognised Club Náutico Marina Internacional and the Valencian, Spanish and international federations involved in organising the championships.

FIPS-M president Juan Antonio Barreda and its delegate Carlos Vinagre spoke during the final part of the event to declare this edition of the competition closed.

The international flag was handed to Pedro Silva, president of the Portuguese federation, marking the handover to the country that will organise the 2028 World Championship; the day ended with the official closing dinner.
