Marco Antonio Prades Boj, coach at Judo Club Nozomi in Torrevieja, has been awarded sixth dan in judo with the white-and-red distinction, recognising his career, dedication and knowledge of the discipline.
The award was ratified by the board of the Royal Spanish Judo and Associated Sports Federation (RFEJYDA) at its meeting on 21 October 2026.
The decision confirmed the recommendation of the National Rewards Committee, which had assessed and graded the applications submitted for this year’s awards under the federation’s Rewards Regulations.
Diploma presentation planned in Lugo
Prades holds the Spanish qualifications of Maestro Entrenador Nacional in Judo and Self-Defence and Técnico Deportivo de Grado Superior, Level III, as part of his professional background as the Torrevieja club’s coach.
The presentation of his diploma is scheduled for 27 November 2026, during the gala organised by the Spanish federation at the auditorium of the Xunta de Galicia’s Provincial Delegation in Lugo.
Nozomi describes its coach as the first person from Torrevieja, and the first coach of a judo club in the town, to reach this grade.
Members of the club have congratulated him and expressed their pride in the recognition, encouraging him to keep working and progressing towards the next grade.
A club active from the youngest age groups to senior competition
The distinction follows a 2025/2026 season whose review, published in June, recorded 298 medals: 125 golds, 77 silvers and 96 bronzes.
In that review, the club counted 31 competitions and more than 25,000 kilometres of travel for national and international events, with participation ranging from the prebenjamín age group through to senior competition.
Training was also among the season’s achievements: two new black belts brought to 15 the number of practitioners trained by Nozomi who had reached that level since the club was founded in 2010.
During that season, the club organised the Copa de Judo Vegapeques 2026 Ciudad de Torrevieja and the 2025/2026 regional league final, as well as holding joint training sessions with the Municipal Judo School.
