The brotherhoods of Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Caída and La Flagelación remembered their deceased members at separate Masses held in Torrevieja on Saturday 31 October, the eve of All Saints’ Day.

The services took place at the parish churches of San Pedro y San Pablo and San Roque y Santa Ana respectively, bringing together brotherhood leaders, members and other people associated with their religious devotions.

La Caída at San Pedro y San Pablo

The brotherhood of Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Caída dedicated its service to those who had died after forming part of the organisation’s history and its shared life.

Francisco Miravete, the parish priest and the brotherhood’s spiritual adviser, celebrated the Mass at San Pedro y San Pablo church during the afternoon on Saturday.

The brotherhood’s president, Marco Antonio García Fenoll, attended alongside members of his governing board.

Representatives of other brotherhoods in the city were also present, joining this gathering for remembrance and prayer for the deceased members.

During the Eucharist, those present also remembered the victims of the train accident at Urda, in Toledo, in a gesture of solidarity in the face of the tragedy.

La Flagelación at San Roque y Santa Ana

The brotherhood of Santísimo Cristo de la Flagelación, Santísima Virgen de la Estrella, Reina de los Ángeles y San Judas Tadeo held its memorial Mass at San Roque y Santa Ana parish church.

This Eucharist was also celebrated by Francisco Miravete and was dedicated to the deceased members of that brotherhood.

Its president, Inmaculada Úbeda Fernández, attended with brotherhood members, senior members known as hermanos mayores and devotees of the religious figures honoured by the organisation.

This service likewise included remembrance of those killed in the Urda train accident and an expression of support for their families.

Both gatherings placed the memory of people who had shared the life of their respective brotherhoods, their worship and their bonds of fellowship at the centre of the commemorations.
