La Maquiné’s «Estación Paraíso» opened the new season of Torrevieja’s seventh «Teatro para Todos» family theatre series at the Virgen del Carmen cultural centre auditorium. The performance brought together children and adults, while an online broadcast brought the production to children admitted to the paediatric ward at Torrevieja University Hospital.

The performance followed the announced opening programme for the 2026/2027 season. Matías Antón, director of the Raúl Ferrández municipal drama school, introduced the production, which is intended for audiences aged five and over.

A puppeteer and a suitcase of memories

The story places an elderly puppeteer in a railway station. She waits without remembering what she is doing there, finding clues in a suitcase full of puppets that help her reconstruct her story and rediscover her identity. The theatrical journey explores memory, the passing of time and love through a narrative combining humour and tenderness.

The production arrived in Torrevieja with the 2024 Max Award for best children’s, youth or family show and the award for best female performance at FETEN 2023. In the story, the main character confronts her memories to find the love of her life again.

Theatre for children in hospital too

The series’ social dimension took shape through broadcasts of the performances on the municipal drama school’s YouTube channel. This enabled children on the paediatric ward to experience the theatre activity from the hospital itself, extending access beyond the audience seated in the cultural centre.

The initiative involved Televisión Torrevieja, the University Hospital, the council’s health department and the Joaquín Chapaprieta Torregrosa municipal culture institute. Together, they supported a programme combining culture, education and inclusion.

«Teatro para Todos» pairs family entertainment with themes including friendship, respect, love, environmental care and appreciation of art and culture. Its opening therefore connects the live performance at Virgen del Carmen with access to theatre in a hospital setting.
