Families in San Pedro del Pinatar can register for the second edition of the Escuela de Familias, entitled “Promoviendo cambios”. The programme offers seven monthly talks during the 2026/2027 academic year, bringing together guidance on parenting, health and relationships throughout childhood and adolescence.

Presented on 6 October, the municipal Social Welfare Department’s programme aims to encourage positive parenting and protect children and teenagers. It provides practical support for families dealing with issues including technology use, healthy eating and addiction prevention.

First aid, education and household finances

The programme schedules a practical and theoretical first-aid workshop in October. A November session will focus on positive parenting and success at school, offering families tools to support their children through their education.

December’s session will address household finances through “Ahorra-Creando”, an activity combining saving and creativity. Participants will make Christmas decorations using recycled materials as part of that workshop.

Technology and adolescent health

Another workshop will focus on preventing problematic technology use. It will offer tools for setting limits and avoiding addiction or abusive behaviour linked to social media, video games and other online platforms.

A session entitled “From tobacco to vaping: how families can address the new face of nicotine” will provide information on identifying risks and preventing nicotine addiction. Health centre professionals will also lead a session on healthy eating in childhood, including guidance on establishing good nutritional habits at home.

The series will conclude with a workshop on relationships and sex education during adolescence. Specialist professionals will explore ways of supporting young people through this stage and promoting relationships founded on mutual respect and communication.

How to register

Interested families can contact the Family team at the Agustina Santiago Social Services Centre. The telephone numbers provided for registration are 968 180 388 and 968 180 600, using extensions 3106, 3113 or 3102.

Councillor Carmen María López presented the schedule alongside the Family programme’s staff. She highlighted the involvement of social services staff, civil protection personnel, health professionals and specialists in addictions and sexuality in delivering the workshops.
