Residents and families gathered in the park at night during the Los Montesinos Halloween celebrations

Los Montesinos held its Halloween celebrations on Sunday, 1 November, with hundreds of families, young people and children joining activities organised by the town hall at Parque Botánico 30 de Julio and the Civic and Social Centre.

The programme had originally been scheduled for Saturday and was moved to Sunday to respect the official mourning declared in Spain after the railway accident, according to the municipal information reported in the account of the day.

Family activities brought together in the park

The main change for this edition was the decision to bring the children’s and family activities together at Parque Botánico 30 de Julio, making it the central setting for the celebrations.

During the afternoon, residents and visitors took part in a programme featuring a haunted attraction, children’s entertainment and workshops, alongside a communal hot-chocolate gathering in the park.

Costumes were part of a day of leisure and socialising for different age groups, with a programme combining activities for younger children and opportunities for families to enjoy time together.

A mystery to solve as a team

The programme also included an activity aimed particularly at young people: the escape room «Expediente 11: La desaparición», held at the town’s Civic and Social Centre.

More than fifty participants took on this experience of mystery and suspense, which revolved around solving a case that had remained unanswered for twelve years within the fictional story of the game.

To make progress in the challenge, players had to use their ingenuity, powers of observation and teamwork, three skills built into this particular leisure activity.

Thanks to those who helped

The town hall highlighted the strong participation across the day’s programme and the way the Halloween activities brought together residents from different generations.

It specifically thanked the parents’ association of CEIP Virgen del Pilar for its collaboration, as well as the other people whose involvement helped make the activities possible.
