School supplies presentation in Benidorm, with Rotary Club boxes in front of a group of participants

Benidorm Rotary Club handed a consignment of school supplies to the town’s umbrella group of parents’ associations this Friday, 30 October, for distribution to pupils whose families have fewer financial resources.

The donation will reach around 310 children at twelve infant and primary schools, as well as pupils attending Benidorm’s seven UECO integration classrooms.

Five of those classrooms are at primary level and two at secondary level, meaning the distribution also reaches pupils in the latter stage of education through the UECO provision.

From parents’ associations to schools

The presentation to the local umbrella group, known as the Agrupación Local de AMPAs, took place in the mayor’s office, attended by mayor Toni Pérez and education councillor Maite Moreno.

Representatives of the Rotary Club and the local parents’ association group also attended, bringing together the two organisations involved in the donation and in arranging delivery of the supplies to schools.

The material is now with the umbrella group, which will pass it on to the education centres; the schools will then distribute the supplies among their pupils with fewer resources.

Thirteen editions of an annual initiative

The initiative takes place every year and reaches its thirteenth edition in 2026, maintaining direct coordination between Rotary and the parents’ associations to address the school-related needs of local children.

During the presentation, Pérez highlighted service and the promotion of education as two of the club’s principles, thanking it for continuing this collaboration with the local school community.

The mayor argued that working directly with parents’ associations provides a better understanding of pupils’ needs at each school, and described the initiative as both effective and important.

The announced distribution therefore brings together the club’s donation, coordination by the local umbrella organisation and the final handover by schools to the pupils and families for whom the supplies are intended.
