Pilar de la Horadada plans to celebrate Halloween this Friday, 30 October, with a free programme bringing a parade, children’s activities and horror-themed entertainment to the town centre and the youth department.

The programme brings together two events, Toma Castaña and Un Pilar de Miedo, with separate times for the parade, workshops, children’s show and horror trail.

Toma Castaña: parade and children’s party

The spooky parade will start at 17:30, featuring the Municipal Dance School and giant skeletons, and will follow Calle Mayor to Plaza de la Iglesia.

At 18:00, the square will host a children’s party with a 360-degree photo booth, face painting and a mask-making workshop, alongside the distribution of chestnuts, sweet potatoes and the traditional roasted snack known as torraos.

The Toma Castaña event therefore combines Halloween costumes and activities with these traditional autumn foods as part of the same programme.

The children’s tribute show ‘Halloween Pumpín’ is scheduled for 19:00, also in Plaza de la Iglesia, which brings together the parade’s arrival, the workshops and the show.

Plaza Campoamor, opposite the town hall, will have its own activity: a horror-themed challenge game and other costume make-up activities, running from 19:00 to 20:30.

Un Pilar de Miedo at the youth centre

The Centro de Información Juvenil, at Calle Ramón y Cajal, 21, will offer Un Pilar de Miedo from 18:00 until midnight, with a horror trail inside its premises.

The youth department recommends the trail for children aged twelve and over and says that anyone younger than twelve must be accompanied by an adult.

The street outside the youth department will host monster-themed workshops, including a laboratory, express make-up and a cursed box, as part of the same leisure event.

The addictive-behaviour prevention unit, UPCCA, will contribute alcohol-free cocktails, which will be available while stocks last.

No advance registration is needed for any Un Pilar de Miedo activity, giving the youth programme its own participation window, separate from the times of the events in the squares.
