Torrevieja approves another animal shelter works amendment adding €466,000

Torrevieja has approved another amendment to the municipal animal shelter works contract, adding €466,000 to the cost.

The project’s price rises from an initial €1.3 million to around €1.9 million.

The shelter is on Avenida de los Nenúfares.

In October 2025, the council described a project with 64 animal accommodation units: 36 for dogs, 20 for cats and eight for animals in isolation.

The planned main building included a veterinary consulting room, operating theatre, reception, meeting room, offices, storage areas and an animal laundry.
