Torrevieja Council announced on 22 October that it ranks seventh in Spain and first in the Valencian Community in the DYNTRA index for town and municipal councils, according to the update assessed and verified by the platform on 21 October 2026.
According to the council’s report, Torrevieja achieves 85.33% compliance, with 157 of the 184 indicators published.
Up fifteen places since April
The councillor for Innovation and Transparency, Ricardo Recuero, highlights a trajectory taking the municipality from 167th to seventh in Spain and from 37th to first in the regional ranking.
Since April, when it held 22nd place nationally, the council has climbed 15 places in the index.
The council attributes the result to sustained administrative modernisation and the involvement of municipal departments in gathering, reviewing, updating and publishing information.
It also recognises the work of municipal employees in making it easier to consult information about the council’s organisation, its decisions and the management of public resources.
The results across the six categories
The reported breakdown puts economic and financial transparency at 100% and urban planning and public works at 95%.
Service procurement scores 85.19%, municipal transparency 81.82%, and citizen participation and collaboration 76.92%.
Open data scores 50%, the lowest percentage among the six categories included in the council’s announcement.
Recuero identifies open data and participation as areas where indicators still need improvement, and presents the result as a collective achievement by municipal staff.
What the assessment measures
DYNTRA is described as a collaborative, independent platform that assesses publicly available information on institutional organisation, economic management, procurement, urban planning and citizen participation.
Its scope is the availability of information: these percentages are not equivalent to a financial audit and do not prove the absence of corruption.
The council presents its Open Government Portal as a tool for bringing together and organising public information and providing downloadable, reusable content.
The council’s announced commitment is to continue coordinated work to expand and update the content available and improve the outstanding indicators.
