Two Torrevieja municipal tow trucks with their towing equipment

Torrevieja has put its municipal vehicle towing service out to tender for €5,616,309.60, including VAT, over five years with no extension.

The specifications require crews to reach the requested location within ten minutes of a call from the Local Police or mobility officers, unless there is a duly justified reason.

Companies can submit electronic bids through Spain’s public procurement platform until 23:59 on 30 November.

The proposed start date is 18 January 2027, subject to contract formalisation, available funding and the end of the current service; the five-year term will run from the actual start.

Round-the-clock service and peak-season reinforcement

The contract covers vehicle removal and transport, storage and safekeeping, as well as installing and removing barriers and temporary signs across the municipality.

The service will operate around the clock every day of the year, with at least five tow trucks, a suitable trailer for small vehicles, a manager and 16 towing drivers.

On weekdays, three trucks will work mornings, three afternoons and two nights; weekends and public holidays will have two on each shift.

From 15 June to 15 September and during Easter, weekday minimum staffing will rise to five trucks in the morning and four in the afternoon.

Vehicle pound and records

The contractor will manage the municipal pound on Avenida de los Nenúfares, where vehicles may be collected at any hour once identity, entitlement and the relevant requirements have been checked.

A system connected to the Local Police will record operations in real time, with at least two photographs of each removal and another on arrival at the pound.

For moving legally parked vehicles because of works or municipal events, the service will help put signs in place at least 48 hours beforehand whenever circumstances allow.
