The first Fine Arts gala at Miguel Hernández University’s Altea campus recognised the organisations supporting the Mecenas TFG programme on Thursday 22 October, including Fundació Caixaltea and Altea Town Council.
The ceremony took place at L’Experimentari in the Mascarat building and combined the presentation of awards with live music and the opening of an exhibition of work by Alfonso Sánchez Luna.
Four patrons and students’ work recognised
The Guardons Belles Arts d’Altea awards honoured Fundació Caixaltea, Club Nàutic d’Altea, Joventut Altea —through the town council— and Club de Tenis Altea for their collaboration with the programme.
The initiative is linked to final-year degree projects at the Faculty of Fine Arts, connecting support from these organisations with the development of young talent at the university campus.
The organisers also recognised participating students and technician Mario Romero for their contribution to raising the campus’s profile, extending the tribute beyond the organisations acting as patrons of the programme.
At municipal level, support is provided through the Youth and Culture departments, which collaborate on proposals connected with artistic creation and university activity in Altea as part of that relationship.
Mayor Diego Zaragozí spoke during the gala, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the university and the town to the institutional and university representatives gathered for the occasion.
Las Lloronas and an exhibition in dialogue with Antonio Saura
The programme included a concert by Las Lloronas, presented with the collaboration of the Annetta Nicoli Institutional Chair of Artistic Studies, as part of the musical side of this first edition.
The exhibition that opened during the gala presented Alfonso Sánchez Luna’s work in dialogue with a painting by Antonio Saura belonging to the municipal art collection, with support from the Culture department.
The awards presented during the evening were designed by student Kevin Mateo Ayala, while the university’s Art department provided refreshments for those attending the Fine Arts gala at the campus.
This first edition was conceived as a space to recognise support for the Mecenas TFG programme and give visibility both to students’ work and to those contributing to the activity of the Altea campus.
