Guardamar del Segura’s Junta Central de Moros y Cristianos has launched its 22nd Digital Photography Competition, with entries accepted until 11.59pm on 10 January 2027 and two prizes of €200 and €100.

The competition, announced on 26 October, is open to amateur photographers over 18, regardless of nationality or place of residence, provided they meet the rules.

Up to five original photographs

Each entrant may submit a maximum of five images showing different aspects of Guardamar’s Moors and Christians festivities; photographs taken in other towns or in a studio are excluded.

Entries must be original and previously unpublished, must not have been entered in or won prizes at other competitions, and must not have appeared elsewhere, including on social media.

Colour and black-and-white photographs are accepted, but selective desaturation is not permitted; files must be JPG or TIF, with a 4:3 ratio, minimum dimensions of 18 by 24 centimetres and a minimum resolution of 300 dots per inch.

Each file may be no larger than 20 megabytes and its name must include the photograph’s identifying motto.

The rules allow global brightness or contrast adjustments, but prohibit adding or removing elements, combining photographs or changing the original composition; organisers may request the original RAW files.

Registration, selection and prizes

Registration and submission are through the Junta Central’s form, which requests the entrant’s details and a digital copy of both sides of their DNI identity document.

Up to 20 finalist photographs will be selected on 12 January and printed for public exhibition, with their authors notified by email or telephone.

The two prize winners will be announced on 22 January; the same person cannot receive both awards.

The prizes will be presented during the MigAny Concert on 7 February 2027; failure to attend, either personally or through a representative authorised by signed letter, will mean forfeiting the prize.

The rules retain the authors’ copyright while reserving the Junta Central’s use of winning and selected photographs for non-profit activities, without time or geographical limits and without an obligation to pay the author.
