Torrevieja’s Municipal Theatre hosted ‘Las Ilusionistas: Gala Internacional de Damas Mágicas’ on Friday 23 October, with Dania Díaz, Jessica Guloomal and Patri Zenner leading an afternoon of magic, storytelling and fantasy.
The three performers brought different approaches to the same stage, in a gala combining large-scale illusions, mentalism and stories that met with an enthusiastic response from the audience.
The performance followed the event announced for 7pm and placed the spotlight on women’s talent in the world of stage magic, bringing three careers and ways of approaching magic together in a single show.
Three approaches to one gala
Venezuelan performer Dania Díaz brought an approach to magic that incorporates emotion and storytelling, seeking a connection with the audience that goes beyond the surprise of each individual routine.
Highlights of her career include receiving the golden buzzer on ‘Got Talent España’ and reaching the final of a talent competition in the United States.
Canary Islands performer Jessica Guloomal contributed large-scale illusions and stage magic, drawing on a career spanning more than twenty years and the recognition she has received at national level.
Patri Zenner, a Spanish national magic award winner, presented a creative world combining medieval fantasy, mentalism and imaginary realms, another of the strands that distinguished the performers’ contributions to the show.
A setting with Halloween approaching
The show also featured an atmosphere reflecting the approach of Halloween, accompanying the performances and reinforcing the element of mystery in the Municipal Theatre’s programme.
Characters from ‘Evil Toys’, the exhibition inspired by well-known figures from horror films and television series, were part of that setting and added an unsettling dimension to the experience.
The combination of staging, stories and illusions held the audience’s attention throughout the event, which drew an enthusiastic reception for the three artists and their different approaches to performance.
