Orihuela will resume its emergency training programme on Friday 23 October, with an opening session for 21 teachers from the Official Language School, scheduled for 10am.
The announced programme is expected to reach 271 participants, including teachers, adult learners and schoolchildren, through activities taking place in October and November at three educational centres in the municipality.
The council’s Emergency and Education departments, headed by Víctor Valverde and Vicente Pina, are continuing an initiative launched last year to promote prevention and help people protect themselves in emergencies.
Three centres and a timetable extending into November
Following the session for language-school teachers, the next event will take place at Orihuela’s Adult Education School on Thursday 5 November at 7pm, with 100 people expected to take part.
CEIP Andrés Manjón will host activities on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 November, with sessions starting at 9am and intended for a total of 150 pupils across the two days.
The timetable extends training to groups of different ages and educational backgrounds, reflecting the council’s aim of ensuring that this knowledge also reaches families and the wider community.
Evacuation, prevention and calling 112
The talks will cover evacuation procedures, how to respond to different incidents, safety advice and the correct use of the 112 emergency telephone number.
The aim is to help participants recognise potential risks and adopt basic preventive measures, using straightforward knowledge that they can apply both in educational settings and in their everyday lives.
Valverde has stressed the importance of staying calm, knowing some basic steps to follow and understanding when to call 112 in a situation involving risk.
Alongside these sessions, the Emergency Department remains willing to work with educational centres to organise and coordinate evacuation drills adapted to each centre’s particular circumstances and needs.
This cooperation is intended to reinforce what participants learn during the talks and help both pupils and teaching staff understand how to respond if an evacuation becomes necessary.
