Rojales to hold breast cancer solidarity walk from Malecón del Soto on Sunday

Rojales will hold a solidarity walk against breast cancer this Sunday, 25 October, starting at 10:00 from Malecón del Soto and following a route of approximately five kilometres through the town’s urban centre.

The Asociación Alicante para la Lucha contra el Cáncer is organising the event with the council’s support, under the slogan Caminemos por una misma causa, as part of October’s programme of awareness-raising activities.

A T-shirt and participant number for €5

Participation includes a T-shirt and a participant number for €5, with the money raised going to the Asociación Alicante para la Lucha contra el Cáncer to support the work carried out by the association.

Anyone wishing to take part can buy both items during the two hours before the start of the walk, at the point provided beside the starting area at Malecón del Soto.

The organisers are inviting residents and visitors of all ages to join the route, intended as a show of support for people affected by breast cancer and for their families.

Mayor Antonio Pérez, sports councillor Pedro Llopis and Sensi Cartagena Chazarra, president of the association’s Rojales branch, have presented the charity T-shirt for these events at the town hall.

Raising awareness and supporting families

The walk takes place during a month dedicated to breast cancer awareness, with 19 October each year marking the international day of action against the disease as part of that wider awareness effort.

The initiative highlights the importance of prevention, early detection, research and access to quality healthcare, alongside support and companionship for people who are facing a diagnosis of breast cancer.

It also seeks to draw attention to the physical, emotional and social needs of those affected, including needs that continue after treatment has finished, through a day of solidarity and public participation in the streets of Rojales.
