San Javier is hosting part of the filming of Si yo te contara, Alfonso Albacete’s new film, with Los Arcos hospital and Santiago de la Ribera serving as locations in the municipality.
The cast includes Cayetana Guillén-Cuervo, Petra Martínez, Izaán Fernández and Lolita Flores, among other performers, and the production is currently filming at various locations across the Region of Murcia.
Work at Los Arcos was taking place on Tuesday, while filming in Santiago de la Ribera is planned for Thursday 5 November.
A story about second chances
The central character is Susi, a successful journalist whose life changes direction, in a story about second chances and finding the strength to get back up after a setback.
That was how Cayetana Guillén-Cuervo described the film during a meeting with the media held to coincide with a visit to the production.
As well as appearing in the cast, the actress is also involved in co-writing the screenplay and in the project’s executive production.
The visit was attended by Juan Antonio Lorca, secretary-general of the regional tourism, culture and sport department; ICA director Manuel Cebrián; San Javier mayor José Miguel Luengo; and culture councillor David Martínez.
Locations in Murcia and Cartagena
The film is not being shot entirely in the Region, although it includes other Murcian locations alongside the two settings in San Javier.
These include Calblanque, the Teatro Romea, the church of Santo Domingo and the Cierva Peñafiel state school.
The Region’s presence in the story goes beyond its scenery: it also forms part of the plot and the main character’s memories.
Murcia-born Albacete expressed his pleasure at being able to film in his home region with support from the regional government through the Institute for Cultural Industries and the Arts’ funding strand promoting audiovisual production.
Luengo welcomed the crew’s arrival in the municipality and the profile that San Javier’s appearance in the film could bring it.
