San Javier will return to the RE-CREA School Circuit, which will bring three productions to the municipality in 2027 for early years, primary and secondary pupils, alongside cultural mediation activities to accompany the performances.

The town is taking part for a second consecutive year in this initiative run by the Region of Murcia’s Institute of Cultural Industries and Performing Arts (ICA) and the producers’ association Murcia a Escena.

Now in its second edition, the circuit aims to introduce pupils to the performing arts through professional productions suited to the different stages of their education.

Three productions for three educational stages

Culture councillor David Martínez has announced that San Javier’s programme will include ‘Nube, Nube’, by Periferia Teatro, for children in early years education.

Primary pupils will be offered ‘.INA’, by Circuspunto Teatro, while ‘Otro Quijote + ?’, by Nacho Vilar Producciones, will be aimed at secondary school pupils.

The selection therefore provides different productions for each educational stage, within a programme through which the council maintains its commitment to bringing theatre to younger audiences.

Martínez has highlighted the value of offering plays suited to different ages so that students can appreciate the performing arts both as part of culture and within their broader learning.

Classroom activities before and after performances

RE-CREA will reach twelve municipalities and extends beyond the performances themselves: it includes training for teachers, educational materials and activities with pupils before and after each show.

The cultural mediation programme also involves the theatre companies, with the aim of providing a richer and more rounded experience, the initiative’s director, Sara Sáez, has explained.

ICA director Manuel Cebrián identifies encouraging creativity, sensitivity and critical thinking as objectives of the circuit, using professional performances adapted to each educational stage.

San Javier’s programme thus combines the three productions announced for 2027 with educational support that connects the performances to the work of teachers, pupils and the participating companies.
