The Geli Albaladejo Theatre in San Pedro del Pinatar will offer a programme for nursery, primary and secondary pupils this school year, bringing together two initiatives: Educaescena, supported by Cajamar, and the regional RE-Crea circuit for school audiences.
The council is delivering the programme through its Culture department in collaboration with the education community, with different productions aimed at each stage of schooling.
From rock music to science and books
The programme began this week with «Halloween Rock», an Educaescena concert-theatre production for nursery and primary pupils, using music as its guiding thread to introduce young audiences to major figures and milestones in rock.
The project’s next production will arrive in February with «ConCiencia Femenina», aimed at primary education and linked to the commemoration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
Educaescena will conclude in April with «Tanaka y la isla de las páginas en blanco», as part of Book Month; the production will also include performances in English to mark English Language Day.
RE-Crea covers three stages of education
Alongside this programme, San Pedro del Pinatar has joined RE-Crea this year, a network that places cultural mediation at the heart of its educational approach rather than simply providing performances for pupils.
The circuit includes training for teachers, discussions with theatre companies after performances and mediation workshops held directly in classrooms, alongside the experience of attending a theatre production.
For nursery pupils, Periferia Teatro will present «Nube Nube» in May, offering children an introduction to theatre and the workings behind it.
The primary school production will be an adaptation of «El Principito», staged by Teatro Silfo in March; secondary pupils will be offered the opera «Cassandra o el elogio del fracaso», by Flexión Producciones.
Culture councillor Carmen María López has highlighted the council’s commitment to introducing the performing arts from childhood and keeping the Geli Albaladejo open to a wide range of audiences.
