Flower-decorated graves, crosses and trees at Torrevieja municipal cemetery

Torrevieja municipal cemetery welcomed families on 1 November as they remembered their loved ones with flowers, quiet reflection and prayer for All Saints’ Day.

Visits began early in the day, and a large floral wreath sent by the council was placed at the entrance in tribute to those buried in the cemetery.

Rosary and Mass for the Dead

In the afternoon, the Holy Rosary was recited, followed by a Mass for the Dead led by José Antonio Gea, parish priest of the Inmaculada.

The service brought together more than two hundred people and was attended by councillors Federico Alarcón, Sandra Sánchez, Ricardo Recuero, Rosa Cañón and Gitte Lund.

Clarinet, guitar and singing

Musical accompaniment was provided by clarinettist Francisco Joaquín Garres and Aurelio Martínez, who played classical guitar and sang.

The repertoire included «Cristo Yacente» by Francisco Grau and the «Ave María» attributed to Giulio Caccini.

«La muerte no es el final» by Cesáreo Gabaráin and «Et sepultus est» by Aurelio Martínez himself were also performed at different points in the liturgy.
