APAEX Torrevieja held a Gambling Awareness Week from 26 to 30 October, combining workshops, family meetings and healthy leisure activities.

Torrevieja's association for the protection and support of former alcoholics organised five days coordinated by psychologist Adriana León Pérez, with professionals from its technical team taking part.

The programme aimed to raise awareness of addictive behaviours and develop personal and family tools to support recovery processes.

Self-care and teamwork

On Monday 26 October, Nayara Morales Minguela led a healthy leisure and health workshop at the association's premises, focusing on self-care and positive habits.

The session addressed physical and emotional wellbeing and returning to hobbies and leisure activities away from addictive behaviours.

On Tuesday 27 October, a therapeutic escape room was held with multidisciplinary support from the technical team, working on cooperation, communication, decision-making and problem-solving.

Family support and shared experiences

On Wednesday 28 October, a joint therapy session brought together people facing addiction problems and their relatives, alongside professionals and APAEX president Óscar Vicente Echevarría.

The session addressed the consequences of gambling for individuals and those close to them, as well as family support during recovery.

On Thursday 29 October, Abilia Clares Nicolás led a therapy session marking World No Gambling Day, providing space to share experiences and concerns and reflect on gambling dependence.

Self-help and social activities to close the week

On Friday 30 October, psychologist Iñaki Masip Tormo led «Recuperando la esperanza», a self-help workshop on multiple addictions focusing on mutual support, motivation and exchanging experiences.

The final day also included a cinema visit to see «Karateka», followed by a discussion of participants' impressions, and a shared evening meal.

Together, the activities combined therapeutic work with cultural and social opportunities, placing prevention, family support and healthy leisure at the heart of the week.
