Real Club Náutico Torrevieja held a day of sport for children and young people on 31 October, with two events: an indoor rowing race and a dinghy sailing regatta.
Young athletes from the club’s Optimist and windsurfing schools and the municipal rowing school took part, putting into practice the skills developed at the start of the season.
Rowing ashore and racing afloat
The indoor rowing competition brought together the alevín, infantil and cadete age groups, with family members watching.
The event brought the effort of rowing onto dry land and gave participants an opportunity to test their abilities in a competitive format.
On the water, Optimist and windsurfing pupils raced in winds that strengthened during the day, allowing several races to be completed.
The programme included a trophy presentation and a snack for the young athletes.
A minute’s silence
Before the first indoor rowing race and before boats went afloat, athletes and their families observed a minute’s silence in memory of the victims of the railway accident.
