The Diccionario de Torrevieja, compiled by philologists Joaquín Cánovas and Julia Lozano, was presented on 16 October in Room 10 at the Sede Universitaria.

The publication is co-published by the Aula UNED de Torrevieja and Ediciones Micomicona. Jesucristo Riquelme hosted the presentation, attended by mayor Eduardo Dolón, council representatives and residents involved in preserving traditional speech.

The work gathers words, set phrases and expressions associated with everyday life in the city. Areas described by the source include fishing, the salt works, and family and neighbourhood relationships, settings in which many of the usages studied by the authors were passed down.

The dictionary examines the distribution and origins of words as well as the particular meanings they acquire in Torrevieja. It also explores contact with Murcian and Valencian, rather than reducing local speech to pronunciation differences or a list of curiosities.

The account places the work within a history of collections of Torrevieja vocabulary and highlights the use of memories and testimony to contextualise expressions. Attendees received free copies as a gesture of thanks. For the general public, a price of €12 was announced at the Torrevieja and Trini stationery shops.
